Being a huge sci-fi fan I am happy to discover TV4 Science Fiction – finally a swedish blog about Sci-fi.
To be honest, the only bleeding channel I ever watch. When will they stop with these pointless channelpackages at the satellite networks?
Here is what will kill off the tv-channels: When some enterprising individual decides that enough is enough, and start selling the shows instead of the channels themselves. Sure, special interest channels are good, but usually you miss something really good, just because they couldn’t negotiate the rights with the rights holders.
Oh you can do this allready with your computer – enter Miro. With Miro you can watch pretty much EVERYTHING that is broadcast on the web. You can download and watch youtube clips, podcasts from pretty much any RSS-feed, and it has a built in torrent client if you feel daring or use a service like Headweb or Ameibo.
Now the only thing lacking is an ability to stream to Xbox360 and media extenders, or a decent set-top box like pop-corn hour. Or if someone built a set top box that worked the same way, then I for sure would quit my satellite subscription. What is the point of having 30 channels that you never watch?
Any suggestions for solutions, please let me know.
